Internet Blues

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song on my way to a job interview. I realized at the time that I spent too much time on the internet the night before so I was not at my best. I didn't get the job, but I did get one of my favorite songs out of it.

Song Description

This is a light hearted song in a Chuck Berry-like shuffle about a man who looses his life because the internet comes first. He recognizes the addictions and the only answer he finds is to not get on the internet in the first place, which, is too late for him.

Verse 1:
First there were computers,
And then the world wide web
Now it's taken my life completely
so I might as well be dead
Oh, I ain't got a life baby
I got them Internet Blues --
Can't get away from that damn computer, honey,
I got them, Internet Blues.

Verse 2:
In the morning 'fore I wake up
Before my mind can think
I've got to have my java
And it's not the kind you drink
Oh, I ain't got a life baby
I got them Internet Blues --
Can't get away from that damn computer, honey,
I got them, Internet Blues.

(Instrumental)

Chorus:
Check my emails in the morning
I check 'em every night
Check 'em fifty time between
And then it still ain't feelin' right
Oh, I ain't got a life baby
I got them Internet Blues --
Can't get away from my damn computer, honey,
I got them, Internet Blues.

Verse 3:
Well I use to have a family
Before my mind got bleak
Then they left me all completely
And their callin' me a geek
Oh, I ain't got a life baby
I got them Internet Blues --
Can't get away from that damn computer, honey,
I got them, Internet Blues.

Chorus:
Check my emails in the morning
I check 'em every night
Check 'em fifty time between
And then it still ain't feelin' right
Oh, I ain't got a life baby
I got them Internet Blues --
Can't get away from my damn computer, honey,
I got them, Internet Blues.

(Instrumental)

Verse 3:
So let me give you all a warning,
About the Internet
It will take you life completely
If it hasn't got it yet
So keep your life baby
Don't get them Internet Blues
Stay away from that damn computer honey,
Don't get them Internet Blues --
Stay away from that damn computer honey,
Don't get them Internet Blues --
Stay away from that damn computer honey,
Don't get them Internet Blues --

fun tongue in cheek romp. nice mouth harp sounds. like the piano too.

Very clean recording i could hear all the instruments clearly. good idea has a commercial market potential.
