Story Behind The Song
I wrote the song trying to write in a pure mountain roots, Americana, form. I also tried to sing like a mountain woman....sue me, it's harder than it sounds.
Song Description
This is a typical mountain story about the character of an old man, Abraham. No one knows much about him except he lost his wife 3o years ago and since then he stays to himself and takes walks along the river. He never said much or seemed to care much.

Lyrics
ABRAHAM
Abraham walks the riversbed not far from here
Abraham takes the same walk there year after year
it's been twenty and ten since his wife Emma died
when the river just took her
from Abraham's side
ch: He's was forsaken when Emma was taken
and Abraham's still overcome
he sits in his cabin or walks by the river
just waitin' for his time to come
Abraham walks the River - no lite in his eyes
Abraham never says a hello or good bye
in the two score and ten that's he's walked there alone
Abraham's talked to few, and the years they have flown
chorus
Abraham walked the river for the last time at dawn
for the first time in 30 years Abraham's gone
now I'm hopin' he's standin' with her by his side
and ole Abraham's up there with Emma his bride
He was forsaken when Emma was taken
Now sunshines in Abraham's eyes
not alone anymore - no sad walks by the river
Abraham's time on this earth is done.
