Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song just after the birth of my latest son, as I thought about instilling values of hard work
Song Description
Many of us remember watching their dad garden. It is a song that reminds us that every generation can pass down hard work lovingly, as family bonds together. It's traditional sound could remind you of Brother Where art thou or Allison Krause.

Lyrics
Victory Garden
G C G
I will pick a spot in the yard and
Em Am G
Now it?s Spring, the seeds are starting
C B7 Em
All the family taking part in
G D#dim G
We shall grow a Victory Garden
We?ll have food when times are lean
As much food as you ever have seen
Nice and fresh, good and green
And say our prayer, when hands are clean
Banjo Solo
Ask God?s help, we will get by
He provides sun and sky
And the rain if it gets dry
With our faith, we can rely
Bridge
Dm C G
Well, my Daddy had a Victory Garden in the war
Dm C G
And his Daddy had one in the depression years before
Eb Bb F D7
You never know when hard times may come; We shall overcome
I will plant a flower for you
Dig the dirt and watch it bloom
Brilliant colors, my love is true
Each year it will grow like new
I will pick a spot in the yard and
With the Spring, the seeds are starting
All the family taking part in
We shall grow a Victory Garden
