This song is about Joe the lead singer/ guitarist and a major relationship of his. Not only does the song describe exact feelings, but also actions as his girlfriend was doing a lot of cocaine at the time and was tearing him apart by the changes that ensued from her drug abuse.

This song is obviously about love being like cocaine. Anyone who knows about cocaine could probably relate a lot of the lines in the song to themselves and their past/ present relationships. In the song, one partner makes the other feel so good when they are around that they don't want anything else but that moment, infatuation and passion. However there is massive heartbreak in the relationship and the partner that loves the other so much is torn by their decisions of making them feel so good and so horrible at the same time. Hence their love being exactly like cocaine.
