Cowboy Crush

Story Behind The Song

The story behind the song involves a lonely woman, who has never been able to latch on to a good man. She is attracted to the cowboy type and always rushes into an intimate relationship. She desperately wants a permanent, loving relationship. But, all the cowboys she hooks up with are only looking for easy sex with no attachments. She continues in this hopeless cycle.

Song Description

The female is a fixture in the country bar scene, where she hopes to find her dream cowboy. She has an obsession with cowboys and throws herself at each, and mistakenly thinks she will find true love. She rushes into intimacy with each eager cowboy, only to be used and then tossed aside. She doesn't realize the vicious cycle she has created until late in the song. Even though she admits it to herself, she can't stop. Lyrics

I. I met my cowboy crush on my lucky night.
We found love in this little bar. My lucky spot.
He picked me up so easy, 'cause he didn't bring his wife.
Before too long we're yippee yi yo! We couldn't stop. Mmm...
II. I'm on a one-way street with a two-way heart.
Th' Do Not Enter sign was flashin' in my mind.
But, my heart told my brain, "Don't you start!"
She's been needin' this good lovin' for some time. Mmm...
Chorus
I got a cowboy crush. I'd love him every day.
But, he rides off on his merry way. I'm left here feelin' like a stray.
A hopeless cowboy crush. I want more than just fun.
But, he leaves right after we get done. He never says, "I'll call you, hon."
A lonely cowboy crush, for me.
(Turnaround)
III. He didn't spend th' night, but he paid th' room.
His boots were never off his feet. We jumped right in.
This ain't my first rodeo, so I knew our love was doomed.
But, cowboys always turn me on. I'm just into them. Mmm...
(Chorus)
I got a cowboy crush. I'd love him every day.
But, he rides off on his merry way. I'm left here feelin' like a stray.
A hopeless cowboy crush. I want more than just fun.
But, he leaves right after we get done. He never says, "I'll call you, hon."
A lonely cowboy crush, for me.
(Turnaround)
(Tag) Another cowboy crush, for me.

this lady has a nice voice, nice tone, great subject, keyboard is nice and tasty as well. nice writing!

Not sure about the vocalist and their pitch?? Sorry! This sounds more straight ahead Country, rather than Alternative! It's not a song I'd like to listen to again......but I am a tough critic, as I am with my own compositions, SORRY!! Pitch is extremely important!! It just may be the most important part of music....just ask Bob Dylan...guess I'm all wet with that thought!!! Ha!!
