Story Behind The Song
I went to a high school reunion and begin talking to old friends about the way things have change in the high schools of today. So many things will never be back the way they where. I long for the days gone by, not only for me but also for my kids.
Song Description
Being a teen has changed so much since the days when I was a teen. It seems so long ago for me. We didn't have the worries of the teens of today. I wish we could just all go back to the square,

Lyrics
When I was young the world was a square,
and everybody that I knew use to live here.
Everything cool happened at the wall,
So many pretty girl I lied and said I knew them all
Everybody has a place they call home.
A place to run back to, and never feel alone.
But the pictures start to fade in my mind.
and the faces start to show the signs and the lines.
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
To the square
We use to dress so cool why back when.
And hell we even talked different then
And everybody seem to know everybodies name.
We just thought things would always be the same.
But as we get older our hearts get a little colder.
And we don't look back when we drive away
We didn't think things would change,
and if you told us we would'nt have listened
I would like to bring back those days
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
To the square
We played at soliders field every Saturday
Has AFN kept the beats with our favorite songs.
Boy we knew how to party in the old days.
We could run all day and dance all nite long.
Now my kids laugh at me when I tell them how it use to be
But it's not them that I'm talkin to.
The building turns gray, and the streets grow cold,
and the people move away and their stories get old.
And I'm getting older too.
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
To the square
Now my kids laugh at me when I tell them how it use to be
But it's not them I'm talkin to.
The building turns gray, and the streets grow cold,
and the people move away and their stories get old.
And I'm getting older too.
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
But you can never go back,
You can never go back
God how I want to go back
to the square
