A Little Less

Story Behind The Song

The relationship between these 2 people didn't end by simply, coming to a close or a drift-apart. One of them stepped way out of bounds in a damaging way. Whatever happened left the singer/victim humiliated, exposed, vulnerable and probably a bit foolish looking (possibly). She goes into hate mode. One day she realizes the fading hate is becoming a simple case of just not caring or opinion at all. She reveals the loss of passion for hate in a spooky sort of way with an angelic voice over a darkening track.

Song Description

This song is about a girl dealing with the coming-up-for-air phase that happens after the sadness phase of a breakup. As she starts to be social again she comes to the hate-you phase where she imagines herself soul-torchering this guy/girl (could be her biology teacher, mom, boss etc etc) and she vows to work on hating him/her less. The track subtely pulls in scary, vengeful vibes under the singer's young, hip, friendly voice.

Lyrics

A Little Less

Wrapped around you throat
Such a dirty deed
For such pretty hands
Choking on the hope
Throwing out my sheets
I'll put on my new dress
I look too good to be
Such a bloody wreck

CHORUS:
Don't know what's become of me
Can't find reality
The truth is I know I should let
You up off the ropes a bit
But now and here I promise you that
I will do my best
To hate you a little less

Calling my own bluff
It's me against myself
Forgiveness only works
As good as bitter does
I'll put it on a shelf
And let it ruminate
My loathing back to health
However long that takes

CHORUS:

BRIDGE:
Na na na na na, Not enough to cut you lose
Na na na na na, Just enough to set me free
Na na na na na, Not enough to cut you lose
Na na na na na, Just enough to set me free
Na na na na na, Not enough to cut you lose
Na na na na na, Just enough to set me free
Na na na na na, Not enough to cut you lose

BRIDGE:
Don't know what's become of me
Can't find reality
The truth is I know I should let
You up off the ropes a bit
But now and here I promise you that
I will do my best
To hate you a little less
