Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song in my state room on the 03 level of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhour "IKE" , with F/A-18's and S-3's landing a few feet above me on the flight deck while deployed to the Mediterranean Sea in 1995. I was missing my family terribly and wrote this song to express my feelings. I originally wrote it with just Rickie, our first daughter in it, but added Kenzie later when she was born. I think Jim did a nice job with the arrangement of my melody.
Song Description
My wife loves me, but worries about me, (at least then:) I love my wife, but worry that I am not deserving. We both love our kids, and worry about how life will treat them. If you are what I consider to be a typical man, have a wonderful wife and children you love, then this song fits you.,

Title: Our Life
Music and Lyrics: Tom Crain
Copyright: 2000
VERSE:
Early in the mornin?, and late in the evening
Her smile always showin?, her eyes glow so bright
But some times she worries, and sometimes with reason
About this man she lives with, and will he be alright
But how she loves me, she's my best friend, yeah she?s my wife
VERSE:
Then I lay awake nights, and pray to our one God
Ask for his guidance, and for the will to do right
Sometimes I worry, and sometimes with reason
Am I deserving, of this lady so fine
Oh how I love her, like no other, yeah she?s my wife
CHORUS:
And love brought us together, and it feels so nice
I thank the Lord above for making things so right
And giving me my wife
VERSE:
Now here comes little Rickie, now little MacKenzie
We love them so dearly, they?re the product of our love
But sometimes we worry, and sometimes with reason
About this world we live in, and is it gonna treat them right
Oh how we love them, they?re our children, and they?re our life
CHORUS:
And love keeps us together, and it feels so nice
We thank the Lord above for making things so right
This is our family, we love each other, this is our life
