Story Behind The Song
My friend, Chase Arnett, was the victim of a very serious car accident the year before he and I entered our freshman year of high school. Our entire graduating middle school class was deeply impacted by this tragic event and this song is my reaction to his death.
Song Description
The Sound of a Breaking Heart is a song detailing the emotional impacts of what it feels like to lose someone close to you. Highly descriptive lyrics and very sparse piano accompaniment forces the listener to come to terms with their sadness while providing the words they cannot find in a time of tragedy to express the way they feel.

Lyrics
VERSE:
When it's over
You really know it's over
By the silence that follows the scream
Because when the ice breaks
Or more like when the car tips,
Who ever thought one moment
Could kill our dreams?
And I hold your hand
I want to hold your hand
CHORUS:
But it's more like holding on to sand
It's like nothing at all
It's like falling down
It's like the sound of a breaking heart
It's like choking on rain
It's like so much pain
Falling so far down
To the sound of a breaking heart
VERSE:
I won't forget you
But I can't even remember
The last thing that I said to you
I have a memory
I cling to it so dearly
Try to hold on to the piece of you
That I can't lose
And I hold your hand
And it breaks my heart
CHORUS
BRIDGE:
Won't you hold my hand?
I want to hold your hand
But I don't understand
I won't see you again
I want to hold your hand
And I fall apart because I'm
CHORUS
It's like trying to understand
Doing al you can
And still falling down
It's like the sound of a breaking heart
It's like drowning in shame
It's like no one to blame
It's like cutting veins
To the sound of a breaking heart
Won't you hold my hand?
