Story Behind The Song
"Finding Yes" is an adventure and a reflection, a meek celebration, really, of my strongest musical influence: Yes (the progressive rock band, that is). The music and lyrics of that group have had a profound effect on my life, during almost all of its various stages, good, bad or other. Most of my music is NOT specifically modeled after their sound, however this song certainly came out that way.
I used "Finding Yes" as the title because of how the last part, with the multiple guitars and echoing effects was done. The sounds in that part of the song are, to me, somewhat dreamy and 'High Altitude.' They play off of each other melodically until about halfway through this part, when the peace is interrupted by another melody that implies conflict. The conflict-type melody gets in with the rest of the sound a little bit uncomfortably at first, but soon fits in and indeed all of the sounds resolve into a nice fitting end, where "yes," as a concept, is at last found.
