Story Behind The Song
I flew over 100 combat sorties over Iraq and Afghanistan. I have PTSD from it and a lot of the sentiments expressed in the song are my feelings following therapy. I never committed suicide, obviously, but a lot of my fellow Veterans did. "I won't be the last to fall, you'll see" refers to them.
Song Description
I Fly refers to the singer flying after jumping out of the window because he can't deal with the PTSD issues following his Iraq combat tours. He can't be the person his family wants him to be, he's disconnected and alone and nobody understands him.

Lyrics
I FLY
By J. Davis
I Fly!
I Fly!
I can't be
The person that I
Tried So hard to be
Can't sleep
I'm tired and I just Want to be free
Can't say
You really helped me
When you didn't try
Confess
There's nothing
Worth confessing for
Does anybody really care at all?
Don't cry
They say they do but I'm not sure they see
No time
Does anybody really care at all?
I won't be the last to fall you'll see
I can't see
The memories that I
Fought So hard for
That I keep
The end has come
I'm leaving here
Go away
Away from here
Will anybody morn?
No fight
There's nothing here
Worth fighting for
I fly
Does anybody really care at all?
Don't cry
They say they do but I'm not sure they see
No time
Does anybody really care at all?
I won't be the last to fall you'll see
I Fly!
I Fly!
