Story Behind The Song
It started out as an arranging project that I was doing in college as part of my Jazz Studies degree. It came out so well that I decided to record it for my second album "A Portrait Of LadyMay". It was inspired by thoughts of my childhood. As a little girl, I always loved sparkling dresses and ones that would flare out if you were spinning or dancing. Hence the title "Sequins". So this is a reflection of my childhood lined with a playful spirit; it's a waltz and has a traditional jazz feel.
Song Description
Jazz waltz with light vocals on the melody line with traditional jazz instrumentation: Rhythm section and 3 horns (Trumpet, Tenor Sax, and Trombone). It starts out with a light and playful melody over a modal chordal progression that continues to transcend to the end of the piece.
