Oh Yeah

Story Behind The Song

I wrote the lyrics to this song while taking tickets at a movie theater, about an hour before getting fired. The song was the lead-off single for Strawman's third album, "A Better Handle On mY Psyche," which charted nationally on CMJ's Radio 200 chart in 1999. More than 160 college and independent stations put the album in rotation and 65 stations listed Strawman in their weekly top 30 playlists.

Song Description

Happy determined poppy naivete juxtaposed against a dreary outlook on the state of affairs in the world today. Growling choruses and light verses make a song with a wide range of dynamics and emotion...

Lyrics

Heroes are asleep while the lava seeps.
Murderers creep through the city streets.
The president's dead, no one can find his head
But his spokesman said at least he's not a red.
People on the TV beggin' "give to me please"
Those asleep at your feet ain't any less hungry.
Government in DC taking all our money
But try to find a subsidy that isn't taken already.
The days of playing fair are incredibly rare.
It's a terrible state of affairs.
Yeah. Oh Yeah.
We're gonna change the world.
This is how we do it.
Really nothing to it.
Put your heads together.
We can do whatever.
Oh Yeah.
