Song Description
"She Waits" is the story of a working man's wife who finds herself more like a single mom, alone to hold down the fort and raise the kids as her husband is most often away to make ends meet in support of the family. There's an underlying question of how long can this continue, this unsustainable arrangement. "You can only wait so long before 'so long' means 'long gone'".

Lyrics
Trapped in the static of a one-room farmhouse
Lost in the chores of a barnyard sky
If not for this broken down pickup
I'd be halfway to my lover's side tonight
She waits for me
vs2
A decade later and the honeymoon's over
A head-on crash with reality
I'm working overtime to feed these children
Family's getting bigger just to feed the need
pre ch
She waits for me, Lonely as I
She waits for me, Tears in her eyes
Ch1
Drop in the bucket, bucket's in the ocean
We're oceans apart, just a part of the deal
Shot to the heart, the heart of the matter
No matter where I am, she waits for me again
She waits for me
I'm three jobs in to a 20-hr work day
She's saying prayers with the kids tonight alone
Folding laundry as he's pitching hay
She cries
And she wonders why
(Pre)
Ch2
Drop in the bucket, bucket's in the ocean
Ocean's full of fish, just reel one in again
Shot to the heart, the heart of the matter
No matter where I am, will she wait for me again?
How long? Will she wait for me?
Br:
You can only wait so long,
before so long means long gone
(Ch)
Trapped in the static of a one-room farmhouse...
