Story Behind The Song
This song was written while I was dating someone who at the time could not reveal that they were seeing anyone. It seemed like everyone was always calling her half the time, and it caused problems and because it consumed alot of our otherwise intimate time together.
Song Description
Being in a secret relationship where you have to hide your love...where intimate moments are interrupted and no one can know you are with the person...where you have to pretend that you are less than you are to each other all for the sake of keeping the secret.

Lyrics
The Room Above (One Room Below)
Look I've got a major problem.
The trash in here has got to go.
I'm clawing at the cellar door,
Reaching up beneath the floor:
One room below.
I think your plumbing needs a fix;
Try minor blues, start on the sixth.
I swear to God it's never been
So easy to be your closet boyfriend
And never will be again...
Until you stop his movin' in.
So lay it down you're only friends;
This madness has got to end.
And it seems like the phone never stops ringing.
And the dance we all do keeps me singing
That we're so out of love,
But in love there's no room.
Well, I got a minor problem:
The love we have no one can know.
Though sometimes we touch the sky,
We're really grabbing at the floor:
One room below.
Though you say that you'll be mine,
The hand I hold belongs to time.
Run me into the wall. My head is (a) ringing.
Start the dance we both do. I'll never stop singing
That we're so out of love
Until we reach the room above.
Run me into the wall. My head is (a) ringing.
Start the dance we both do. I'll never stop singing
That we're so out of love,
But in love there's no room.
