Lyrics
The Sacrifice
No, I fear you will not afford that apartment. The rise in minimum wage will offer scant relief. Instead, you and countless others will be drawn into the ranks of martyrs, mere cannon fodder in the turbulent quest to reinvent -- or perhaps reignite -- our Constitution (or fail miserably to do so) amidst the violent upheavals that now encroach upon us. These are the times we face.
You can expect to hear ceaseless, impossible promises from leaders -- strongmen and strongwomen alike -- who will inevitably fail to foster true prosperity for The People. Meanwhile, we shall persist in treating our left and right wings, and politics as a whole, like a trivial football match, cheering for our side while blindly ignoring that both teams are comprised of traitorous barbarians, worthy of a bloodied French head-basket!
Meanwhile, the opinion-makers, handsomely paid, will incite us against each other, hoping we diminish our numbers in mutual destruction, distracted and never daring to peer behind the curtain to see the true wizards who should face our collective wrath. The era of government benevolence is dead. It has passed. There is no other way.
