Story Behind The Song
One of my sons has given me personal experience in writing this song. Although written in the 1st person. This song is personal to me as a father.
Song Description
Two siblings. Looking for a way back home. Somewhat obnoxious in their determination. Song puts the listener directly on the streets and in the minds of these homeless young folks. They sound happy, but again, obnoxious... as they say at the end of the chorus, "Make no mistake, we're coming home."

Lyrics
VERSE:
Mother can you help us find our way back home today
Quarters, dimes, and nickles, pennies strangers make our payday
We've got a pile for a ticket to meet you half-way
VERSE:
Father how's your other wife and family have they seen your face
Which face did they see and did you already unpack your suitcase
We're gonna need a place to stay so please have them make some space
We're sorry for the pain you all must bear
But make no mistake, we're comin' home
VERSE:
We could really use a ride from you, big brother dear
We could really use a ride from here to yester-year
We promise to pay for the gas, the cigs, and the beer
We're sorry for the pain you all must bear
And we know the worry that you all must share
But make no mistake, we're comin' home
BRIDGE:
Don't take for granted, the life you're given
That's what our momma said
It's hard to take anything for granted with no roof over your head
The grass is greener, of course it is when you've got concrete for a bed
It's hard to take anything for granted with no roof over your head
We're sorry for the pain you all must bear, yeah
And we know the worry that you all must share
(Ugh, must be bad)
We just wanna get home, put our feet up and not be so alone
We're sorry, please know we're sorry
We're sorry for the pain you all must bear
But make no mistake, we're comin' home
We're coming home
We're coming home
We're coming home
