Story Behind The Song
A guy at my work was always saying "it is what it is". Finally one day when he said it to me, I said, "until it isn't". The others in the room started laughing and saying that finally someone came back with a good reply to that.
I immediately took a note of that in my notebook and proceeded to write the lyrics for this song. Luckily since I work in a music store, I could also pick up a guitar and get the music down pretty quickly.
Song Description
A woman is sitting at home, stunned by the fact that she's just been left by her love. She didn't see it coming because she didn't pay attention to the signs. She had been taking him for granted, and now he has decided to move on.
She knows the damage has been done and it's too late, so she resigns herself to the fact that she had this coming. "It is what it is till it's not" basically means that people can disappear from your life at any given time and should not be taken for granted.
