Story Behind The Song
At a moment in my history, at a time in my life, I was sick. Nothing major, but it rendered me unable to perform and needing to cancel some live performances. Upon hearing I was sick, many friends wished me well, hoping I would feel better. I was touched by the well wishes, so I wrote this song as a thank you to them.

Lyrics
Hello, nice to see you
I'm feeling fine today
I just get a little startled
when you look at me that way
And if I tell you that I'm nobody
don't you believe it too
I just have to bring me down sometimes
to see what I go through
Yesterday was black outside
Today's a little gray
And all your good intentions
let me see another day
You're placing all this faith inside me
that I only wonder why
I appreciate your trust for me
and the way you make me high
We put these things upon the shelf
All these little things that we tell ourselves
Stand by me now
I'm gonna get it back to you somehow
It's not a means to an end
It's just a song here, for my friends
Sometimes I wake up from my sleep
and I'm trippin' in a dream
You can come along with me
and I'll show you what I see
You're placing all this love inside me
that I only wonder why
I appreciate your trust for me
and the way you make me high
We put these things upon the shelf
All these little things that we tell ourselves
Stand by me now
I'm gonna get it back to you somehow
It's not a means to an end
It's just a song here, for my friends
We put these things upon the shelf
All these little things that we tell ourselves
Stand by me now
I'm gonna get it back to you somehow
It's not a means to an end
It's just a song here, for my friends
