Story Behind The Song
This is a live cut of the tune, recorded just last year as a part of a live radio broadcast here in Boston from the famous "Blues After Hours" on WGBH Hosted By Mai Kramer, Who was second lining right in the studio with us and about fifty other revelers. The room really heated up as new and old members of the band squared off in a situtation where we knew we were being heard by many numbers of people over the eithers. I'm so proud that they still do this tune which I wrote for them way back in '89.
Song Description
This song was based on the "new style" of traditional brass band music from New Orleans, performed by groups like "Rebirth Brass Band". These bands employ some of the rhythms from funk and later popular styles in the continuing evolution of the style. This is a very popular tune with the band and the people who come to hear them play it was also used to advertise Harpoon Beer" a local brand that we've knocked back Quite a few of. It also was used in the movie "Fever Pitch"
