Song Description
it is the decisions we make throughout our lifetime that determine who we are & where we are, both figuratively & literally....our choices are our character & our psyche....
while unable to undo & retract our actions....while our path is as irrevocable as it is uni-directional....we sometimes allow ourselves the indulgence of nostalgia & even regret....
this song, I think represents many emotions....(though not necessarily ones that I personally dwell upon!) it is wistful & romantic, but finally it is one of resignation...

Lyrics
Keep a track of where you've been
Play a part in every scene
Recall the people that you've met
Even those you might forget
I've been lost & I've been found
I've been a-cross & I've been a-round
Always one step from the edge
living life @ the thin end of the wedge
so fast my feet don't touch the ground
Sometimes lucky, sometimes not
sometimes cold & sometimes hot
I've been hungry & I've known thirst
but losing freedom is the worst
The highway's always been my friend
Taking me to journey's end
Taking time to read the signs
staying straight between the lines
home is just around the bend
bridge
home's where the heart is
well, at least that's what we're told
some-where you don't have to be a-lone
a home's a place where you can come in from the cold
but a trav-'lin' man don't have no home
so keep your porch light bur-ning bright
I might come to your house late to-night
you might hear me open-in' your door
or find me sleep-in' on your floor
borne by a snow-drift be-fore the dawn
fresh as milk & a ro-bin's song
full of stor-ies yet un-told
but soon I'll head back to the road
just turn a-round & I'll be gone
