SHE'S THE HURTIN' KIND

She's the hurtin' kind,
She's not happy till she leaves somebody crying,
All because her pride was shot down just one time.
Now she?s the hurtin' kind.
(verse)
Closing time at a table for one, down at Brown's Diner,
Neon lights don't do her face no favors, lipstick smudged and way too much eyeliner.
She just left another reason to smile behind,
Now like all the men six years before him, he's about to lose what's left of his mind.
(chorus)
(verse)
First job fresh out of school, working for some good looking fool,
Plenty of money, a real hot, hot car,
Down on Music Row he'd make or break a superstar,
Promised her he'd lose his wife, but he was stringing her along.
Since then the lyrics and tunes have changed, but it's still the same old song.
(2nd chorus)
Cause he--was the hurtin' kind.
Now she's not happy till she leaves somebody crying,
All because her pride was shot down just one time.
Now she's the hurtin' kind.
(bridge)
When two people are more than friends, it doesn't mean that it will never end.
Doesn't mean things have to last,
But yet she crushes all the hopes and dreams so fast, she quickly buries them in her past.
(final choruses)
And that makes--
Her the hurtin' kind,
She's not happy till she leaves somebody crying,
All because her pride was shot down just one time.
Now she's hurtin',
She's the hurtin' kind.
She's still not happy till she leaves somebody crying,
All because her pride was shot down just one time,
Now, she's the hurtin' kind,
She's the hurtin' kind. (repeat last line for vamp)
