Story Behind The Song
There are two stories here. The original one was inspired by a personal friendship gone sour around 2010. The latter one actually occurred over time starting with the portion of the country that some of us thought were honorable being suckered into following a narcissistic, greedy, power-hungry liar who betrays anyone who he feels like for his own gain. It took me a while to actually realize the second story, but now it's clear that some people don't deserve our trust.
Song Description
Some folks betray others and never even know it, even when it's blatantly ruining a relationship.

EYES

What it all comes down to, you've been up to no good,
What happened in the shadows is your secret.
You tried gettin' over 'cause you thought that you could,
Claimed to love me, but you really didn't mean it.
Then you thought that I'd be blind to this forever.
But I have eyes and I can see,
That you're wrapped up in yourself and don't recognize me,
Deep inside, I care so much,
But where I come from, we value trust.
I look around and witness all your lies,
'Cause I have eyes.
These eyes have it when it comes to knowing the truth,
I can't believe what you tell me anymore,
'Cause I can see what you do.
After catching you with him, I'll never be the same,
I can't stick around and play this foolish game,
'Cause I have eyes and I can see,
That clearly you don't realize how you're hurting me,
But deep inside, I care so much,
This is all about our love and not lust,
Now I'll stand tall though you cut me down to size,
'Cause I have eyes and I can see,
That you won't use the sense God gave you to listen to me,
But deep inside, I care so much,
Baby, how can I love someone I can't trust,
When it comes to losing me, you take the prize,
'Cause I have eyes.
