Story Behind The Song

I composed this piece as a vehicle to inspire my piano students. Like a great many of my works the piece was started during a student's piano lesson. I finished the piece at my home studio and have performed it many times with the CD accompaniment.

Song Description

Ruby Road is about a white witch that lived on a mountain during the civil war. Because of her proximity to one of the major roads she came into contact with young soldiers from both the north and south. Out of her compassion she begins to heal these wounded boys, including lost limbs. One day she meets a young man and in healing him, falls in love. Doing so will make her loose her powers, so she must decide between the two.
