Story Behind The Song
As a Dyslexic he writes entirely from phonetic sounds that eventually form words, much like automatic writing. He doesn't read music, is entirely self taught and feels a profound connection with music as an expression.
"I often write lyrics to encourage us in the face of adversity with the hope that someone somewhere will 'get it' and find a way to be brave..... Now and again a song like 'Not Lead To The Light' comes along, calling out of the darkness and shouts wake up!" - Rainy
The idea of a portent or warning of some kind has always intrigued Rainy and he regularly nods to this theme throughout his work (see his track Little Things from his previous album 'Hold on to the rhythm'). As with many of his songs it rarely has one single theme. 'Not Lead To The Light' is also a song that nods to the experience he had with a dear friend and the struggle to recognise the power we have over ourselves and in turn the power we all have to listen, learn and change for the better.
Song Description
'Not Lead To The Light' is full of lyrical analogy that speaks of the consequences of our modern ways and warns of the trappings of ignoring our natural intuition. In a world full of signs and warnings that "we turned the wrong way" 'Not Lead To The light' asks us to look at ourselves through an honest lens, recognise the hole we are digging and make a change to be better human beings.
