Story Behind The Song
The last song written for the album, recorded at BFoot's house. I felt that the song was one "rocker" short, and this fit the bill.
Song Description
I wanted a DM-meets-Linkin Park feel & BFoot added some pure cock rock guitar over the verses. The keyboard intro is me diddling with the pitch wheel on the Nord.

Lyrics
SINKING
I don't know when it started
I just want it to end
And all the while I'll wonder, "Is this the last time?"
I can make excuses, keep it loose
And it's all justified
I can't stop abusing, when it's choosing me
And I feel so alive
It didn't take too long, I guess
To make myself another mess
And all the time I tell myself, "This is the last time"
(Or is it?)
I'm sinking lower, sinking lower than I thought I could go
I'm sinking lower & I'm drowning in it
Tell me why you won't look me in the eye
What are you afraid of finding out about yourself?
Don't fear what's in your heart
Don't be afraid to start again
You shouldn't be so special, but you are
It doesn't make much sense, you never strayed too far
But not much in life does
Not much in life does, does it?
Just one more time, no one gets hurt, no pressure
And I'm hanging on to promises that I know I just can't keep
Now everything I said to you were lies
I'm in disguise, I don't know why I cannot stop, cannot drop it
It's on top of me
Just one more reason why I'll disconnect it & forget it
Before I wreck it & ruin everything in my life
Now every time I think of you, I cry
Was it so easy to comply?
You said goodbye, now I'm on top of it
I dropped it
