Story Behind The Song
I wrote this a long time ago. The lyrics play with some images, but it is up to the listener to figure out what they mean. My original concept was that this would have the feel and intensity of Jimi Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower," but as you can hear, this recording comes out nothing like that.

Lyrics
Wake Up!
In the quiet of a cold dark rain
Rests the eye of a hurricane
In the light of a thundercloud
Soak straight to the bone
In the story of an elfin smile
And the wreckage of a warning fire
There's a sorrow of a thousand miles
That echoes below
Wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up
It's a secret that you'll never hide
In a way that's long ago denied
Feel a story of a fear you'll find
A stair from the low
Realizing it with open eyes
Close them tightly and you'll see the light
It is shining to forget a ride
That echoes below
Wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up
In the quiet of a cold dark rain
Rests the eye of a hurricane
In the light of a thundercloud
Soak straight to the bone
In the story of an elfin smile
And the wreckage of a warning fire
There's a sorrow of a thousand miles
That echoes below
Wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up
