Story Behind The Song
This song was written to be the theme song for a children's television show concept that I never completed. The theme song was completed, though.
The concept was fairly developed and was titled "Dr. K's Clinic." It was to take place in a medical clinic and feature friendly staff, whose names were all letters of the alphabet and colorful CGI characters alongside human actors (sort of the way Sesame Street uses Muppets). It would have funny little skits and songs, providing edutainment on health, self-care and STEM topics.
Song Description
This song is not really a rocker, definitely not a ballad. It is an uptempo, somewhat light-rock-ish tune. I added a bit of distortion to the guitar to give it a little edge, and so the guys in my rock band wouldn't make fun of it. The song is crazy catchy, though, in my mind, which is why it had to be recorded and find its way here....
Instrumentation is simple: Drums, bass, piano and an electric guitar and acoustic guitar. There is one lead and 2 back-up vocal tracks, with 3 part harmony on the verses and a descant over every refrain except the first time through.
I also created an instrumental version.

Lyrics
The Doctor Is In
An apple a day keeps the doctor away,
But who's picking apples when Doc wants to play;
The Doctor is in;
And he knows it's not pills you need,
The Doctor is in;
He knows the best medicine indeed,
And it's just you!
The doctor will see you, your appointment is now,
Or walk in to sunshine, let me show you how;
The Doctor is in;
And he knows it's not pills you need,
The Doctor is in;
He knows the best medicine indeed,
And it's just you!
Come inside on a rainy day,
Or come inside where we wish you well,
Living life in a brand new way,
Take a deep breath and you can tell!
The Doctor is in;
And he knows it's not pills you need,
The Doctor is in;
He knows the best medicine indeed,
And it's just you!
