Story Behind The Song
Not much of a story. I have a friend who, when you ask him how he's doing, would say "Just living the dream." I extended that concept a little into a daydream. The rest of it kind of flowed from there.
Song Description
This is a slow to mid tempo ballad. I don't do lots of those, but it turned out with a nice sound to it. Recording geeks like me will appreciate that it is the first time I actually got a side chain compressor to do what I wanted. The acoustic guitar was 4 tracks and sounds great! The bass and drums mesh pretty well. Darcy has become a main drummer for a few of my tunes.

Lyrics
Living the Daydream
(Music and Lyrics by J Kessler)
If It pleases anybody, to know I'm still in love with you
To hear the heartache and wonder where I've been off to
I've been living the daydream
Wondering what I'm dreaming for
I've been living the daydream
Waiting for that night once more
And if you care to notice why I'm still hanging around
Do pay attention (sweet attention) to that honest haunting sound
I'm still living the daydream
Until the sweet and silent night
Just living the daydream
Wondering why it don't feel right
Don't tell me where to start
Don't tell me where to stay
Don't heal my broken heart
'Cause you can't anyway
If it pleases anybody to know that I still think of you
If it pleases you to feel like you can walk away and be through
I'm just living the daydream
Not much to dream about
I've been living the daydream
Whispering things I want to shout
And if you care to notice why I sleep well at night
And if you play attention (pay attention), it might just seem all right
I've been living the daydream
Wondering what I'm dreaming for
I've been living the daydream
Waiting for that night once more
