Isolation

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song in about 1989 and made this recording several years later. I'm not sure what it was about originally, but sort of takes on new meaning in the Spring of 2020, when people are self-isolating to get away from the new coronavirus.

Song Description

This recording is kind of clever. I don't have access to the original multitrack recordings, so I've done my best to remaster it, but the quality is not terrific. It was recorded on 8 tracks. 1 lead vocal, 2 back up vocals, the bass and lead guitar are actually a single guitar run through an Octave pedal. I really like the swoops in the refrain. You don't hear that effect often, The rhythm guitar is a Casio DG-20, run through a synth via MIDI. The DG-20 is a neat instrument, a synth that plays like a guitar I think the drums were a borrowed drum machine, since I don't recall having anything at that time that made the type of sounds in the drums.
