Story Behind The Song
An old friend recently stopped by to visit. He needed to get out of his house because he was surrounded by memories of his wife who had recently passes away quite suddenly. His grief was palpable and his tale of her permissions stunning. We love both of them and having been in love with one woman for over forty years myself I I could literally feel his pain.
After he left I wrote this song.

Lyrics
can you hear it
can you fear it
are you sobbing in your sleep
the days pass by so slowly
with promises they won't keep
you never loved too wisely
but you always loved so well
now your eyes gaze out so sadly
with tales
that they won't tell
when all is still around me
Swear I hear a distant sound
maybe footsteps falling softly
or just a shadow on the ground
