Song Description
This song describes the longings depicted in Song of Solomon 2 and 3, when the girl is waiting for her lover and cannot find him. This is my own feverish existence, searching for God...as He searches for me. And I guess we're right in front of each other, but my own blindness puts the wilderness between us.

Lyrics
Every morning I awake
Bearing an odd sense of guilt and shame
Every evening I lay down
And I want to sleep with you
But every night I like awake
And every day is just the same
That I dance into other pursuits
And have no time for you
and I cannot bear to be alone
And I cannot stand to sleep without you
Lord I cannot bear to walk without talking to you
Lord come to my senses
I break the pattern, mold of song and verse
When I dare to lift my pen to write to you
I cannot stay inside a melody
Or even write the poetry
My soul flies away into the world of a tear
And all that I can really see to say
Is that I want you with me today
More than I want to say the words
You and I
together
and I cannot bear to be alone
And I cannot stand to sleep without you
Lord I cannot bear to walk without talking to you
Lord come to my senses
and I cannot bear to be alone
And I cannot stand to sleep without you
Lord I cannot bear to walk without talking to you
Lord come to my senses
