Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after the Virginia Tech shooting. I just felt so sad for those who lost someone in that tragedy that I felt like putting it all in music. I was taking an online music class at SongU.com and tried to use some of the skills I learned on there to write the song.

Lyrics
You're with me
By Vanessa Padla
When I'm alone I feel you near.
Your smile I see, your voice I hear.
You hold me in your arms until
the sun shines on my window sill.
Then you whisper in my ear
the words I know I need to hear,
"Please be strong, you'll be okay.
We'll be together someday."
When I open my eyes
I smile because I realize . . .
You're with me.
Wherever I go I know
You're with me.
Your love gives me hope
And it comforts me
Knowing you're with me.
I wish I could go back in time
to say I love you, say good-bye,
tell you how much you mean to me.
These thoughts become my agony.
When I begin to think this way
in my mind I hear you say,
"I'm here with you, you're not alone.
In your heart I've found my home."
When I open my eyes
I smile because I realize . . .
You're with me.
Wherever I go I know
You're with me.
You're love gives me hope and it comforts me
Knowing you're with me.
If I could fly away and be with you today
Would you let me stay?
But to cheat my destiny is not what you want from me . . .
Then you whisper in my ear the words I know I need to hear,
"Please be strong, you'll be okay.
We'll be together someday."
When I open my eyes,
I'm fine because I realize . . .
You're with me
Wherever I go I know
You're with me
You're love gives me hope and it comforts me
Knowing you're with me.
