Story Behind The Song
Souvenirs and echoes from the trip of my life : Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar.
Made from an old melody found on one of my first multitrack recording on tape (in the 90s). Hauntingly catchy tune, it needed a full re instrumentation with newest technologies, but I ve never been able to give it justice. So many ideas to sort out...
Here, with my trip to Africa on my 50th birthday, it was in 2016, a visual support to this composition was making sense, but my fear of not being able to remake the music the way I want it to be is still there. So, before it is too late for me, I took the time. Here it is.
The result is a bit busy, but all those people and souvenirs echoing in my mind, that's what it sounds like. And I am happy to share it with you.
Song Description
Tribal chants, lots of vocals effects echoing in this world music, with a catchy melody at the marimba (percussive chromatic instrument) : The meeting of 2 cultures: locals from Africa, untamed grounded to Earth and spiritual to heights at the same time, and ours, quite hybrid and seriously altered, blending nicely by opposing tribal sounds to electronic instruments.
2 phrases summarise the sound track: "DONT GO ANYWHERE, NOTHING BETTER... THAN THIS"
(plus in french: "La Mémoire..." as a conclusion)
