Mr 404 Man

Story Behind The Song

I composed this song for an individual whose ignorance and arrogance could not compare. I was online checking out meanings for different words in Dictionary.com and I stumbled upon the meaning for 404 (an online error code meaning "uninformed, ineffective and stupid") and found a sentence that inspired the song ("Don't ask him. He's a 404.".

Song Description

Mr 404 Man takes lyrical ideas from Aesop's fables, fairy-tales and biblical images that give examples of ignorance and how some people act high and mighty despite lacking knowledge. The instrumentation consists of an acoustic guitar, a tom tom, bass guitar, a violin, lead and backing vocals and a shaker.

Lyrics

(INTRO)

(VERSE 1)
Man is a strange animal,
He doesn't like to read
Writings on the wall
His back is against it
Man only believes in
Censored fairy-tales
They are the ones who walk
With their eyes closed.

(PRE-CHORUS 1)
Blissful ignorance is
your middle name
Finding the easy way to
claim for fame.

(CHORUS 1)
Mr 404 Man, you don't look before you leap
And after you fall, you don't land on your feet.
Mr 404 Man, you think you're a gift from God
But even you cannot walk on water.

(VERSE 2)
Parading down the streets
Like a peacock snob
They want the world to revolve
Around them

(PRE-CHORUS 2)
Like the emperor, they think
they're wearing silk
But we ask how they can
wear a naked whilk.

(CHORUS 2)
Mr 404 Man, you play while the ant works
So when winter comes, you are feeling the cold
Mr 404 Man, don't blame the swallow
You gambled your wealth and cloak in hopes of spring

(CHORUS 3)
Mr 404 Man, you don't look before you leap
And after you fall, you don't land on your feet.
Mr 404 Man, don't blame the swallow
You gambled your wealth and cloak hoping for spring

(CHORUS 4)
Mr 404 Man, don't ask anyone else
If their job isn't carrying sticks for you
Mr 404 Man, even in a lion's skin
Your words expose all of your true intentions.

(OUTRO) - Da da da da, da da da da, da da da da, You're a 404. (x 4)
