"Rastar" is the second release from Fort Knox Recordings ragga-psychedelic funk project Nappy Riddem. This time the trio comprised of producer/DJ Rex Riddem, Fort Knox Five & Thunderball vocalist Mustafa Akbar, and Thievery Corporation Bassist Ashish 'Hash' Vyas, is joined by guitarist Rob "International Velvet" Myers, who also plays with Thievery Corporation, See-I and Fort Knox Five.
The collaboration brings forth a funky breaks bouncer with a reggae skank, metal guitar solos and a dubby breakdown. "Rastar" melds these elements with Mustafa Akbar's Parliament style harmonies and Rex Riddem's vocals that sound like a cross between Prince and B Real.
