Nothin' I can do about the Wrinkles

Story Behind The Song

While we were on vacation last summer, I happened to pick up a women's magazine and marveled at all the full page ads flaunting the merits of wrinkle creams. This song is my protest against the creams and cosmetic companies trying to lure women into spending big bucks to change the inevitable. It is my wish to encourage my fellow old-and-getting-older ladies to be content with our lot, get down and enjoy those grandbabies. They are the best cure for wrinkles!

Song Description

This song postulates that one cannot stop aging wrinkles from appearing on your face, so why try? Who wants to turn back into a pimply faced teenager, anyway. The best cure is enjoying your grandchildren and being content with the stage of life God has placed you in.

Lyrics

CHORUS: There's nothin' I can do about the wrinkles
They're with me till the day I die.
There's nothin' I can do about the wrinkles
It won't do any good to try, so
Next time I look into the mirror,
I'll chuckle at the face I see.
There's nothin' I can do about the wrinkles
They're God's latest fashion for me!

Should I be tempted to buy a cream
That would recreate the face of my dreams?
Turn back the clock, reverse the gears,
Return me to my teenage years?
Elasticize my sagging chin
Restore my alluring dimples....
If it really worked; if it did the trick,
It might bring back my pimples! SING CHORUS

Should I be tempted to stop and look
At the cosmetic counter's makeover nook?
That cute little gal in the size 2 jeans
Hasn't got a clue what aging means!
She'd plaster me with mud that cracks,
Rub in essential oils.
If it really works, if it does the trick,
Would it make me a brand new girl?

BRIDGE: Avon's calling, Mary Kay
Please don't visit me today.
Now I've learned there's not a race
To see who has the youngest face
Cover Girl and Estee Lauder
I'm content, so please don't bother. INSTRUMENTAL

Should I shell out fifty bucks an ounce
When the formula's free that'll give me a bounce?
Like tossin' a ball to my grandbaby boy?
The giggles and the wiggles that generate joy?
Re-emphasize those smile lines
Crows feet are showy wrinkles!
For with every glance, they only enhance
Sparklin' eyes that twinkle! SING CHORUS

ARGH! That **** mirror is staring back at me again! And it's got more lines than a Shakespear play!! But alas, it is what it is... c'est la vie.

This whimsical tune is a glimpse into how we reflect on ourselves over the years and adjust our outlook on where we've been... where we are... and where we're going.

There's a bit of ragtime flavor to this stage / show-tune. Definitely can see this one being cast out from stage/theater. Well done... looks good to me!

There are people who suit wrinkles :) I'm sure that wrinkles suit you just like your voice and this beautiful arrangement! Amazing song!

Very clever song , full of humour and clever lyrics , and well performed .

LOL - this is great , loved the "Were In the Army Now" sound and harmonies.

You out did yourself this time......This is really good....

This is a very retro song. Initially I thought it was a children's song but given the subject matter that would not be suitable. Reminds me of the Beverly Sisters, it is humorous and witty and fun.
I like the way it sends up the beauty brands and I am a fan of a funky fiddle. It is very unique and could be a cult hit.

Maybe this is a song for a play on Broadway.

Totally cute song, suitable for a movie. Wonderful Disney-esque quality!

Another winner Kate!! Really cute! Your lyrics are always extremely fun and clever.....always give me a laugh! I really love the arrangement in this....sounds like a live violon? Excellent sounding!!

Musicianship here is classic! You don't hear music like this very often anymore unless in a musical on stage or movie. Very entertaining. Vocal execution has some moments where notes get a pinch or hair off, but overall harmonies and execution is great! Has a very raw human quality you don't hear often anymore with technology corrections. This feels like "REAL" music that doesn't get appreciated anymore like it deserves! Thank you for sharing!

This is one of the most unique tracks that i have heard yet on Broadjam! The vocals are perfect & the instrumentation is very appropriate. It's a step back in time & I loved it!

I like this, it has an old world feel. Great melody and vibe.

Nice melody and great lyrics. This song held my attention.

A nice piece of music made for musical theartre. Vocals are good. well done

It's a cute song, funny lyrics. vocals are pretty good blend.

Your harmonies are really nice...cute old fashion tune.

This song would do well in a comic routine, and there's always a market for making people laugh. The melody is very catchy and so is the hook. The lyrics are well-written and the message is effective in showing that we can grow old gracefully.

HA HA!---MRS.KATE at her finest hour!--HA HA--this is so much fun!--thanxs--joe.---i'll be thinking of my wrinkles all day long now!--

Sounds like Mary Poppins haha
Seriously though, it's rather cool
Nicely recorded, and sung
well done

Loved it, I love the overall feel for it
