Story Behind The Song
I remember attending my father's 90th birthday party. It was attended by a lot of family members, but not too many friends because all of his friends were dead. My sister gave my dad a gag gift, a children's book entitled All of my Friends are Dead. It was a big hit at the party; everyone thought it was so funny. I was scheduled to sing for an old ladies club. The lady who booked me said, "There's not too many of us left...I'm 87 and the youngest one in the group." The morning of my gig, I thought to myself, "What should I sing for these ladies? All of their friends are dead." That would make a great song title, I thought. So I wrote the song that day, but didn't perform it for them because it wasn't ready. I apologize if this song offends anyone; it's meant to be funny. It's also meant to be inspirational. Be sure you are ready to meet the Lord Jesus when the chariot comes calling for you!
Song Description
A humorous song for senior citizens, this song laments the fact that "all of my friends are dead." It cites memories from bygone days, old technology, failed body parts, funerals, doom/fate, dealing with grown children and the new restrictions upon freedom. Enjoy the stellar mandolin playing of Chris Henry and soulful gospel harmonies by Kelly Cheney, Staci Jefferies, David Newell, and Daniel Kiteck.

Lyrics
CHORUS: All of my friends are dead.
What am I gonna do?
All of my friends are dead.
Lord, it's just me and you.
You talk about old cronies; Hey we go back real far
High school graduation, cruising in our cars
We can still remember our old black and white TV's
Now I can't even climb the stairs with my replacement knees. SING CHORUS
Last year I missed 5 funerals; I couldn't bear to go.
I wanted to remember when the moving picture show
Only cost a quarter. Stole a kiss on our first date
I'd rather stroll down mem'ry lane than deal with doom and fate. SING CHORUS.
BRIDGE: I may be a dinosaur
But I still sing; my spirit soars.
The Lord is in His heaven and
He's calling out my name
Hang on, Lord, I'm coming
I'm the last one on this train.
I know my children love me; They just want to keep me safe
They took away my car keys and they bought me a new cane.
Now I can't do what I wanna do, can't go where I wanna go
I'm waiting for the chariot to swing down sweet and low.
