Story Behind The Song
This song was written close to a year ago (May 03) shortly after i found out my friend Terrell got shot and killed. Every situation in the song thats mentioned is 100 percent true, there's still such a thing as hard times, although today a lot of rappers and producers like to pretend hip hop is based on clubs, liquir and bitches, the truth is hip hop is for the streets, it always has been, and this is my message to my streets that im still with em, always will be for life.
Song Description
Even though the hard knock ghetto style has apparently been "played out" there's still situations in the neighborhood that aren't so kosher, but for all the real folks the song is a reminder to keep your head up through thick and thin and let the lord guide you through.

Lyrics
Verse 1: We got homies hurtin homies, if only, we could ride in the sunshine steady rollin, but that aint the case, see the look upon a mothers face, when her baby's in a casket only brings me to disgrace, this taste in my mouth is bitter, but because these times is hard that aint gonna make me a quitter, i know im a sinner, but y'all aint gotta judge me, just because i keep it on the real they aint gonna love me? As i get older these days be gettin colder, everywhere i go another chip on my shoulder, but shit im a soldier, built to be tough, so i aint gonna let hatred keep buildin me up, im fillin my cup with hen again its alright, ill keep rollin til the day i reach the mothafuckin sunlight, and if i never find it i must have been a fool, but anyways im'a keep my head up and stay cool.
Chorus: This is dedicated to my homies in the ghetto who been thuggin it around the way, just keep your head up high and you'll realize that you gonna see a brighter day (x2)
Verse 2: The homie round the way he gots to raise his kids on his own, because his baby just made her way back home, in they heart is a memory, and for the homie and his babies im'a pour out some hennessy, another homie round the way been drinkin daily, he seen his homie addicted to drugs and its shady, are we goin crazy? damn we must be, cause situations in the hood been gettin so ugly, another homie been locked down for years, shot a clerk in a jack move and now he's in tears, wonderin how am i ever gonna live, to see another sunny day again? just make your peace with god and hope he got your back, so when your time comes you right back on the map, but im'a keep on doin the things that i do, just remember sometimes these G's need love too.
Repeat Chorus
Final thought: Shots out to the homies who lost someone or somthing in their life to make them feel like they lost a part of themselves, but no matter the situation, you gonna smile again someday. Rest In Piece Terrell.
