Story Behind The Song
Rodeo Angel was one of my easiest songs to write. I wrote the chorus from start to finish in one afternoon, which for me is quite fast. I generally take months to write a song, often times putting it aside for weeks waiting for the right inspiration to get me going. Rodeo Angel was an exception. Sometimes the words just seem to find their way to the end of my pen with great ease. This song is very near and dear to my heart, because it was conceived in my heart.
Song Description
Behind every rodeo cowboy there?s a rodeo angel ? the one to pick you up when you?re down and lessen the pain of a hard day?s work with just the touch of a hand or a gentle kiss. Whether it?s a weekend rodeo or a regular 9 to 5 job, there are some hard knocks that can only be remedied through the arms of the one you love. Rodeo Angel is the kind of song that will get under your skin and leave you with a smile. This is a true rodeo song - complete with some sensational steel guitar, fiddle and acoustic guitar fills. Chris Ledoux would be proud to see his influence in this one.

Rodeo Angel
Another seven second ride, lost my grip, bruised my pride
Hit the ground on my head, lookin? like I should be dead
Darkness fallin? over me, storm clouds part enough to see
As I look up into the eyes of an angel
Auburn hair, pale blue eyes, a gold belt buckle twice her size
She lifts me up, lays me down, keeps my feet upon the ground
Takes my misery away, gets me through another day
Heaven knows she is my rodeo angel
This time I'm holdin' on for eight, I give the nod, pull the gate
I hear the thunder of the crowd, gonna make this cowboy proud
But should hard luck come my way, and at the end of every day
That's when I fall into the arms of an angel
Auburn hair, pale blue eyes, a gold belt buckle twice her size
She lifts me up, lays me down, keeps my feet upon the ground
Takes my misery away, gets me through another day
Heaven knows she is my rodeo angel
I owe so much to my rodeo angel
