Lyrics
PORTRAITS OF BLUE
Chorus
Lovely lady, selling paintings in the park:
One old pickup, a house, windows dark.
Among all your Portraits of Blue
He wonders: Where is the portrait of you?
Verse
Summer breeze, sandaled feet
Pass right by him.
Gleeful crowds make him feel far apart.
Still he stands on the sidewalk before her
Seeking words that will open her heart.
Should she talk? Better not
Better sell now.
Got the food and the rent all those bills.
From the square come the cries of the children
Midst their cries, the couple stands still.
Bridge
For no sadness can match the cries of the children
Who despair for comfort and care.
And no madness can match the lovers who run
From the treasure of love they could share.
Chorus
Lovely lady, selling paintings in the park:
One old pickup, a house windows dark.
Among all your Portraits of Blue
O-o-oh where's the portrait of me and of you?
O-o-oh where's the portrait of me and of you?
