Story Behind The Song
I was messing around with the chord change from "Ho Hey" by the Lumineers and heard the verse melody for "Far-Sighted". The first lyrics were "I never lived a single day for myself" which, to me meant, life had passed him by. I played with this theme about time passing you by until I found a more relatable character: someone in despair about getting older. It's a sad self-realization, but a prevalent one to say the least.

Lyrics
[Verse]
Screaming up at the down-pouring rain
Wild Turkey running wild through my veins
Jumpin' off for the thrill unafraid
Chasing beauty, chasing dreams
I don't believe in a long time ago
But who said I had anywhere to go?
I'm running still but I'm feeling things slow
Slow on down
[Chorus]
Being a banker doesn't bring you wealth
Being a doctor doesn't bring you health
I've been living young but growing old
Right before my eyes
But I can't read the fine print
I'm farsighted
[Verse]
Caught a glimpse of myself in the river
But I swear I was looking' in the future
With my hands, took a sip from my face
Watched me drift away
[Chorus]
Being a banker doesn't bring you wealth
Being a doctor doesn't bring you health
I've been living young but growing old
Right before my eyes
But I can't read the fine print
I'm farsighted
[Bridge]
And I'm lovin' just where I am, right now
And I wanna stay where I am, tell me how
Tell me how, tell me how
[Chorus]
Being a banker doesn't bring you wealth
Being a doctor doesn't bring you health
I've been living young but growing old
Right before my eyes
But I can't read the fine print
I'm farsighted
