Story Behind The Song
The initial inspiration to this song was a middle-aged man who I spoke to at a primary school. He had given up a secure, well paid career to be a primary school teacher and was so glad that he had.
Song Description
Teaching is becoming harder and harder every day. The hedonist culture in which we live, combined with a 'results obsessed' education system, ensure that children and teachers alike hate school and hate learning. This song is named, very simply, 'teach' (

Lyrics
I am thirty-nine years old I have so much to give
Now, at last, I feel the time has come for me to live
I will go into the world and make my mark at last
I must find some way to build a future from my past:
I will teach, I will teach...
I am young and I am small, I don't know where to turn
There's so much I want to know, so much I want to learn
I'm not sure where I want to go or what I want to be
There's so much that I want to find, so much I want to see
Come and listen to my words: there's things you need to know
I am here to dry your tears and teach you where to go
Give me time I'd like to tell you everything I see
I've heard before there's something more to life than pleasing me
I will give my time, give my life
I'll teach you how to live
I trust you and I'll do my best
That's all I have to give...
It's enough
When you're older you'll discover so much more than me
You must choose if you'll abuse or set your wisdom free
When I'm older I'll remember all I've learned from you
Then I know I'll want to go and try to do it too:
I will teach (I will go into the world and make my mark at last)
I will teach (I must find some way to build a future from my past)
I will teach
Thank you for all you've done:
You taught me how to learn...
