Story Behind The Song
This was inspired by Max Lucado's book the Applause of Heaven. In the final chapter he states how we will be welcomed by friends who have gone on before us as well as Jesus cheering us home.
Song Description
Each new day draws that much closer to being with Christ in heaven. It will be great to be with Jesus and to know how much he loves us for doing our best.

Lyrics
VERSE #1
The milepost says another year past,
The page turns another day gone.
We?re closer than we think,
The time has gone so fast,
When we walk that last mile home.
CHORUS
The applause of heaven,
How joyous that day,
The applause of heaven,
On our graduation day.
He will welcome us home,
amid the cheers of friends
The day our Lord will raise
his nail scarred hands . . .
And applaud.
Verse #2
We try with all our hearts
to serve the king of kings.
The day will come when we?ll depart,
the angels start to sing.
Then the One will stand
with a smile upon His face.
The One who chose to die for you
the One who took your place.
CHORUS
VERSE #3
We give Him all our lives,
A sacrifice of love.
Because His grace has saved us,
His mercy from above.
I long to hear him say,
Well done my faithful one,
Enter my rest for you,
Your job is finally done.
CHORUS
