I wrote this song for the International Breast Milk Project. It tells the story of orphaned African children whose lives are being saved as you read this, by mother's milk shipped from America. The IMBP uses this song on their website.

Lyrics
The Children of Africa
©2008 by Marla Lewis
Reaching, crawling
Learning to walk now
Babbling, calling
Learning to talk now
Growing stronger every day
Watch us run and laugh and play
We are the Children of Africa
Drinking milk from America
Every morning when your package arrives
We thank you for saving our lives
We were hungry
Lonely and scared then
Lost our family
Hadn't a prayer then
Growing weaker every day
Then came help from far away
We are the Children of Africa
Drinking milk from America
Every morning when your package arrives
We thank you for saving our lives
BRIDGE:
When we grow up, we're gonna help our children
Love them, feed them, and send them to school
Give them everything that we've been given
Teach them Giving is the Golden Rule
We are the Children of Africa
Drinking milk from America
Every morning when your package arrives
We thank you for saving our lives
