Story Behind The Song
This song was "written" 30 years ago as a wedding present for my wife (it came by Divine inspiration one weekend in the car). It was originally conceived as a rock ballad a la Blood, Sweat and Tears, although I also pictured a Big Band version with Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett, and the Berklee College of Music musicians who backed me up at the wedding reception later performed it with a latin beat. The idea that it could be done in a country style came about 10 years ago. See "Liitle Things Duet" for a ballad/duet/female version of this song.
Song Description
A very personal and intimate portrayal of the way I felt as I prepared to marry my soul mate.

VERSE 1:
It's the Little Things you do that make me love you,
Just the simple ways you let me know you care:
A smile so full of tenderness, a gentle hug, a soft caress,
The way you run your fingers through my hair.
VERSE 2 (male singer):
When we're riding late at night and you get sleepy,
You curl up by my side and close your eyes,
And you feel as warm and helpless as a newborn baby kitten,
And your trust in me just makes me want to cry.
VERSE 2 (female singer):
When we're riding late at night and I get sleepy,
I curl up by your side and close my eyes,
You say I feel as warm and helpless as a newborn baby kitten,
And that my trust in you just makes you want to cry.
CHORUS:
And I love you like I've never loved before.
Seems like no one ever felt the way I do.
And I can't believe that you love me even more
I just thank the Lord each day because it's true.
VERSE 3:
It's the laughter in your eyes that makes me love you.
It's walking hand-in-hand, our fingers intertwined.
And we share our laughter and our tears, our hopes and dreams for future years.
And often we can read each other's mind.
CHORUS:
ENDING:
It's all this, and so much more, that makes me love you,
And my love keeps growing stronger all the time.
If I live to be a hundred I will always love you more,
And still thank the Lord each day because you're mine.
I just thank the Lord each day because you're mine.
