Story Behind The Song
While we lived in Australia, my husband asked me to write a song about exercise. I had started gaining weight, and decided to start working out to lose it.
Song Description
I'm working out why I'm working out while I'm working out every day.

Lyrics
I wake up in the mornin' and grab my old t-shirt. I waddle to the closet..Man, my muscles hurt! Then, I put on some Spandex and some aerobic shoes. If I want to be gorgeous, I've got to pay my dues. Now I stand in front o fhte TV screen, tryin' to hold the bulges in. Why is it all these aerobic queens always look so thin?
(Chorus)
Now I'm workin' out why I'm workin' out while I'm workin' out ev'ry day, And it seems to me I can't figure out if the workin' out really pays. If it all works out, in a year or two I could look like Shania Twain, But so far all I've done is gain a little more pain.
(Verse 2)
I stretch up high, I swoop down low, and circle both my arms. Why can't guys just like the girls for their wit and charms? Now I move my feet to the beat and run in place, 'Cause gotta be more than another pretty face. Better lift the knees, if you please. I'm keeping up with the perspirees. Then, on the floor, kick up, kick back. Give that tush a squeeze.
(Verse 3)
When I go out for the day, I want to look my best. It won't help my self-esteem if I can't fit in my new dress. And the button on my favorite pants, won't meet the hole. Takin' fifteen pounds off, that's my new goal. So I lose one pound, then it's two. It must be a beautiful dream! I'm so proud of myself, I buy a double scoop ice cream.
(Ending)
No pain, no gain! I can't take the strain. Somebody shut off that TV!
