Story Behind The Song
In the summer of 2023, my sister began to ghost me after we spent a few days together. I was devastated, to say the least, and have no idea why she decided to do that except for the fact that we have vastly differing views on politics and world affairs. Funny thing is, we didn't even talk about those things during our visit, but that is the only explanation I can come up with because I thought we had a fantastic time.
In the aftermath, I started to reflect on how there is such a great divide between people these days, even family members who were always close. As I often do when I am sad about something, I write a song about it, which really helps with the healing process.
"We Are Right To Be Concerned" goes much deeper in its subject matter than my relationship with my sister. But in the writing process, all of these feelings and concerns about families being torn apart over politics, as well as other social issues, came through in the lyrics.
