Story Behind The Song
American Soldier is a patriotic Country Rock song that pays tribute to those that serve in the United States armed forces, as well as their family members that server in the "silent ranks." Wives, children, mothers, fathers, and friends are all impacted when their family members are called for duty. All Americans owe these individuals a debt of gratitude.
We will never be able to repay them for the great sacrifice they have made to protect the freedoms we enjoy in this great nation. As songwriters, we decided that the very least we can do write a tribute song for them.

Lyrics
So many lonely nights, she sits beside the phone
Wondering how he is, will he be coming home
With their children fast asleep, she gets down on bended knee
And prays for his return, prays for their family
He's a soldier, an American soldier
She serves beside him, in the silent ranks
Interlude
Daddy's little girl, watching through her tears
As she sadly waves goodbye, so many thoughts and fears
He was going to teach her soon, how to ride her bike
How to catch a ball, and how to fly a kite
He's a soldier, an American soldier
A little girl's hero, her security
He's her only son, seems just like yesterday
She held him in her arms, now he's so far away
Weeks and months slip by, the letters come and go
Silently she weeps, it's such a lonely road
For a soldier, an American soldier
A mother's pride, and her happiness
Time passes on
With no concern
Memories sustain them
Until his return
Patiently they wait for him
Their lives put on hold
Faithfully he carries on
Defending young and old
Interlude
So many friends he's lost, upon this battlefield
And so he carries on, his anguish concealed
He thinks not of himself, but of those that he defends
He'll see this mission through, until the bitter end
He's a soldier, an American soldier
Protecting freedom, for his countrymen
For his countrymen
