Lyrics
Verse 1
The night was a trip that started on a dock
Inches above sprawling mute lake held hostage by fog
Then we spun through Lakeshore with no direction, and the world our playground
We climbed a spiral, jumped fire and four times crossed a bridge
We toured undiscovered locations from Centennial Gardens to Capitol Grass
In between was a familiar street overwhelmed with colors, sounds and people there to confuse
But all the choices we made were the right ones, the best ones
They took us to the backyard where we blew smoke and watched its shadows creep across the lawn.
Chorus
And all that we encounter might be the same to you, but in everything we experience you'll find there's something new
The world is full and cluttered with particles that go unseen, and waves are all around us: over, under, in between
The only reason there is music is this thing called frequency
The only reason there is music is things vibrate differently
Verse 2
On an island on a cool summer night, the wind plays with the water like lightning in the clouds
Next it takes my hair, it moves my feet and I am mobilized across a bridge
Streetlights and luminous signs give me light to pen my thoughts, and I stand here simultaneously cursing them and blessing them.
The lake's foam laps at my shadow and the cicadas don't know when to quit. I draw closer to the water and melt to the ground.
The walk is over. Cars tell us that.
They let us know that life doesn't accurately reflect imagination and I believe it, but I'd argue if you flipped it around.
But motorists! can't they understand the language my feet speak? They talk loudly but are drowned in exhaust and engine rev!
Power down, get out and walk with me. Then the water will chase your shadow too.
